Sometimes the chill of winter bites deep.  In those times, a man wants to bite back!  Should the need come upon you, I heartily recommend an Irish Coffee to beat back the frost.

  • 2 oz Whiskey (Irish, of course!)
  • Black Coffee
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

In an ideal world, you would have an Irish Coffee cup.  Lacking that, a coffee cup will suffice.  Fill your vessel about half way with good black coffee. Add the whiskey and the sugar, stirring to ensure the sugar dissolves fully.  This is necessary for the final step to work properly. Lower a spoon, rounded side up, over but not touching the coffee.  Slowly pour the cream onto the spoon.  Properly done, this will cause the cream to form a layer atop the beverage.  Properly consumed, one sips the coffee through the cream.

Sláinte!
