Oh my friends! On this happy day we have cause to celebrate not one but two happy events! First off our webseries has resumed in Volume Two with "Prehistoric Peril!"
As if that were not enough, this is the Friday before Mardi Gras! Two fantastic reasons to reach for the rum and have ourselves a grand fête! Thus I give you, this week's cocktail: the Hurricane!
Here is what you will need:
- 1 oz gold rum
- 1oz light rum
- 1/2 oz Passion Fruit Syrup
- 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
Add all of the above to your ice filled shaker (I recommend just squeezing half a lime straight in for the juice portion) and shake it as if you are having an epileptic fit! Strain into a cocktail glass or, for that bona fide New Orleans feel, a plastic cup.
The Hurrricane is one of the most well known drinks to emerge from "Nawleans" and is very popular this time of year. Invented by bar owner Pat O'Brian in order to use up the excess rum forced on him by his liquor suppliers, it garners its name from the hurricane lamp shaped glasses it was originally served in.
